The Working Group I (WGI) contribution to the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) on the physical science basis of climate change released today shows without a doubt that human activities are changing Earth’s climate and underscores the need to immediately address the climate crisis.

ArticlesWe are excited to announce AGU’s journal Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems (G-Cubed), which publishes research on the chemistry, physics, geology and biology of Earth and planetary processes, will become open access and all content published in the journal will be freely available starting 1 January 2022. AGU is also pleased to announce that starting 9 July 2021, we will eliminate excess page fees for all open access journals and for authors who purchase an open access license in our other journals.
AGU is pleased to announce an update to its corrections policy to allow for more flexibility around author name changes in our publications to better align with our values of diversity, equity and inclusion.
On behalf of the AGU Board, we are excited to announce Peter Schlosser, John Podesta and Tong Zhu as our new board members. They will be instrumental in helping to execute the strategic plan for a thriving, sustainable and equitable future supported by scientific discovery, innovation and action.
We applaud the Biden Administration’s steps to remedy these challenges, as well as the disproportionate health and environmental effects suffered by underrepresented minorities.
While we mourn Dr. Eagleson’s passing, we know his legacies will endure. His contributions to AGU and our community are remembered with great appreciation.
The issues that this team will be addressing – from COVID-19 to the climate crisis to removing systemic racism – are paramount to re-establishing a civil society that values science and facts. AGU’s community is ready to assist to foster a safe and healthy planet for all.
