We are excited to announce that #AGU20 will be mostly virtual. “Mostly” because if science and health professionals tell us it is safe for groups to convene, AGU would like to host a regional gathering in San Francisco.
Each April or May, the Fall Meeting Program Committee (FMPC) meets to begin the planning for the AGU Fall Meeting. In early May, the group convened 100% virtually for the first time.
In 2019, thanks to AGU members, the scientific-engaged public and Jamie Austin’s generous $1 for $1 match, the Austin Endowment for Student Travel was created.
As we all adapt to working remotely, we are pleased to announce that the Earth and Space Science Open Archive (ESSOAr) has new capabilities to make virtual collaboration even easier.
Steve Chillrud from LDEO of Columbia University reached out to Robin to flag that many of our members and many in the Earth and space scientific community work in labs where there are N95 masks, eye protection, face shields and other protective gear that the medical professionals need (#GetMePPE).
Even though Fall Meeting 2019 was only a few months ago, AGU is already planning Fall Meeting 2020.
