AGU LANDInG Inclusive Science Webinar: Community Science: Science for Climate and Justice
25 May 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT
Join us for the next webinar under the AGU LANDInG Inclusive Science Series, Community Science: Science for Climate and Justice. In this talk, Raj Pandya, who serves as the Vice President of Thriving Earth Exchange, will argue that the challenges posed by climate change and injustice – challenges highlighted by events in the past 3 years – require an additional approach to science: community science. Community science is the equitable collaboration of scientists and communities to advance community priorities. Using examples, stories, and research, Raj will share what led him toward this way of working, suggest some principles to guide community science, and describe the skills and attitudes that help scientists do a good job at it. Raj will also offer some suggestions for institutional changes that can support and advance community science.
