Billy Williams promoted to EVP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Today, I’m excited to announce that Billy Williams has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Billy has been a true force in advancing DEI at AGU and across our community. Thanks to his leadership, AGU is a world-renowned organization for advancing DEI initiatives in Earth and space sciences.

We have been working on making the Earth and space sciences truly inclusive and diverse for more than eight years. And we know we need to do more. We remain committed as always.

In less than 14 months, AGU has:

• Launched a strategic plan that has DEI as a core goal.
• Committed to the eight action steps to combat systemic racism.
• Secured National Science Foundation (NSF) funding and launched AGU LANDInG Academy that will train advocates to become DEI leaders.
• Launched a redesigned Ethics and Equity website.
