AGU statement on President Biden’s Executive Orders today
On behalf of AGU’s community of 130,000 experts to enthusiasts from around the world, we appreciate President Biden’s executive orders that will have the U.S. rejoin the Paris Accord and the World Health Organization as well as his restoration for some measures of justice, protection of our environment and reclamation of the importance of science. As we have repeatedly stated, the decisions that one country makes on environment or health are not limited by geographical borders, but affect everything on the planet. With COVID-19, we have seen the best of humanity when we see countries that work together with lower death and infection rates. We must treat our planet the same way by working together to address the combined challenges of our climate crisis, global pandemic and racial and economic injustices. The Biden Administration is starting us on the right path to improve human and planetary health today and for future generations.
Thanks for the statement in support of President Biden‘s executive orders.
Sincerely
Georg Dresen
